“When the world yields to the Tao, racehorses will be used to transport fertilizer. When the world ignores the Tao, the animals of the mounted guard graze in a public area. There is no sin greater than desire, no misfortune greater than discontent, no calamity greater than greed”
(Limitation of Desire, Book of Tao)
Our products are omamoris, amulets with a specific purpose. Omamori (御守 or お守り) are Japanese talismans commonly sold at Shinto and Buddhist shrines, dedicated to certain Shinto kamis and Buddhist figures. The traditional omamori consists of a piece of paper or wood with a message of luck, peace and faith written on it, as well as the name of the temple or shrine where it was obtained, kept inside a cloth bag with a string so that it can be tied anywhere. It's common to see them hanging from the rear-view mirror of cars to provide protection and prevent accidents. Omamoris are not usually sold in stores, but in temples or religious shrines.
After the lockdown imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Kami No Michi created these omamoris to help people who had been cut off from socializing, who had been gripped by anxiety and who somehow felt aimless.
This first collection consists of three bracelets that can be worn by men, women and children alike. Conceived after a suggestion and guidance from the monks of the Takeda temple in Yamanashi, Japan, the amamoris were produced in Thailand with absolute craftsmanship using silver pieces and natural fibers from Jalapão, a state park located in central Brazil. The stones are natural, come from different countries and have not been treated to alter their color. They have simply been cut. Produced in a limited edition, the bracelets were blessed after they were made
Why?
The stones have been selected by leading gemologists. Yes, gemology is not superstition. It is a serious and continuous study of the chemical and physical properties of minerals and their uses and is part of the spirituality of Shinto. They have specific properties and have been combined to balance energy and enhance certain goals. The natural fibers, which shine like gold, were harvested by quilombola communities and come from Tocantis, in the northern region of Brazil, whose soil is rich in aluminum, which gives it its intense golden color. The guardians of the village of Mumbuca protect the paths of Capim Dourado and ensure that nature continues to offer people one of the most beautiful and precious fibers in the world. You don't plant grass, you just harvest it. And because of climate change, unbridled exploitation and smuggling, it is in serious danger of becoming extinct.
The candle was produced by a South Korean start-up that used natural ingredients and essential oils combined exclusively for this collection with the aim of awakening you.
The bracelets come in small onggi jars made in villages near Seoul, South Korea's capital. The jars are made for storing and preserving pickles (kimchi) and fermented products. For this omamoris collection, the jars were made from natural clay, rich in minerals and trace elements, which give them their dark brown color. And it's no coincidence that we thought of the symbolic meaning of keeping the power of a jewel in this pot until it finally embraces the wrist.
The mantras, handwritten one by one by the Takeda monks, have the power emanating from honest words and the desires of those who walk the path of truth and goodness. For us, they are the great preciousness of the recipient. They need to be taken care of with the affection and importance they deserve. Having a handwritten mantra is a privilege for few. We are grateful for the monks' guidance and for the unique opportunity to have these precious pieces of paper that were tested (there were more than ten types of rice paper) to receive the words of power in ink.
When you open the omamoris, you need to choose a special place for a brief ritual: light the candle wick, read the mantra (or choose a prayer or meditation or listen to a song of your choice, whatever helps you get in tune with the sacred), think about your intention, the purpose of having this omamori and adjust the bracelet on your wrist. After this rite, the bracelet should no longer be removed from the arm, even if the person is a high-intensity sportsman or frequents swimming pools or beaches. The bracelets are resistant and made for continuous use. As the bracelet was made - on purpose - with golden grass, with constant use, in a few months or years, it will naturally fall apart, fulfilling its true intention and purpose that goes beyond its own material existence.
Lighting the candle, praying, meditating, mentalizing and keeping the omamori tied to your wrist will help you find the paths to Love, Health or Abundance/Money. To do this, you need to focus on good intentions and actions that lead to planning a new course and a prosperous future.
These bracelets have no healing power, but they bring the roots of Shintoism to the heart of the wearer. We are not alone in this world and we can and should want whatever we want, but to achieve any goal, we must connect with the spiritual world, talk to God. This act of connecting with the Sacred should be a natural daily activity. Eating, sleeping, bathing and relating to the spiritual plane are all human needs.
The candle helps to create an atmosphere to lead you to the meeting of body and mind, matter and essence. Faith in the words of a prayer or mantra takes us to another plane and the bracelet, always in sight, leads to the path we are aiming for. One day it will no longer be necessary to wear the bracelet, which will naturally fray and, in the end, having fulfilled its purpose, you will find the path you long for: THE WAY. WAY. みち.
Omamoris don't involve luck, superstition or magic. They are faithful to logical knowledge, science and the Eastern philosophy of Shintoism.
Welcome.
We sincerely hope that people achieve their goals.
